Back at Dogwood tonight

I'll be back at Dogwood tonight singing some country and bluegrass with Ann Claire Baber to celebrate their write-up in the New York Times.

7-10pm

The first hour will be super kid-friendly featuring a bunch of sing-a-long tunes and my 6yo playing some fiddle.

Bluegrass at The Dogwood in Ditmas every Wednesday

Starting Wednesday, Feb 19th, I'll be playing bluegrass at The Dogwood on Church Avenue from 7-10pm with fellow Deedle Deedle Dee Ari Dolegowski. When one of us can't make it we'll rotate in some of the many other talented folks in our musical circles.

See you there! Every Wednesday.

Roy & Lloyd's Happy Hour returns Friday, Oct 3rd

That's "Roy" as in Roy Nathanson (saxophonist and composer, leader of Sotto Voce and the Jazz Passengers, former member of the Lounge Lizards, collaborator with Elvis Costello, Debbie Harry, and many others). That's "Lloyd" as in me, the guy from the Deedle Deedle Dees and the sing-a-longs who also plays music for non-family audiences. Starting Oct 4th we're going to resume our weekly happy hours at Lark where we sing songs we love, tell stories, and just generally give you the time of your life. No "kids' music" specifically but the event is very kid-friendly, a great place to hang with your family -- or without your family -- to start the weekend.

Grown-up music -- whatever that means

People at sing-a-longs and Deedle Deedle Dees concerts always ask if I do "grown-up" music or "music for adults."

I've never had a good online way of letting people know about these non-family projects so I'm finally starting this blog.

It's going to have news of my collaborations with saxophonist / composer Roy Nathanson, my evening performances with guys you might recognize from the Deedle Deedle Dees doing klezmer and R&B and bluegrass and other stuff, my sideman appearances with groups like Red Hook Ramblers, and other projects that are more difficult to categorize. Some of these shows I might put on my main calendar along with all the Deedle Deedle Dees and solo family shows. But this blog will be the one place where I put everything: little cafe shows, impromptu bar appearances, whatever.
